Description
The Disability Specialist focuses on the oversight and evaluation of applications for disability retirement within the fiduciary responsibility of our Client.
Responsibilities within this position include the following:
Reviewing and analyzing medical reports and employment histories
Eliciting relevant information from applicants/recipients and employers in interviews and otherwise
Preparing facts and consulting with the Medical Reviewers to interpret the information and identify the functional limitations of the specific conditions
Acts as designee to the Chief Executive Officer regarding eligibility and continuing eligibility for disability benefits
Specific projects and areas of concentration are assigned as needed.

Salary: Begins at $61,090 annualized
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative
experience OR Associate’s degree in a relevant field and five years of complex
administrative or technical experience.
• At least one (1) year of experience must be in the application of complex laws,
rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and writing skills.
• Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with diverse populations
including physically and mentally incapacitated persons.
• Must be skilled in operating word processing and other office automation equipment
and be capable of extended periods of time engaged in computer terminal operations.
Additional Desired Qualifications: Experience which demonstrates interviewing and other skills necessary to evaluate medical reports and related data to make complex determinations of eligibility for benefits or services. Experience relating to disability determination or vocational rehabilitation.
